Field Key to Small Mammals of Ukraine

Proceedings of the Theriological School, volume 5

Ukrainian version Summary. This guide deals with the identification of small mammals (first of all, mouse-like rodents and shrews). Small mammals are a traditional object of investigation for many specialists and it is the basic mammalian group at fauna censuses using standard traps (live traps and Hero’s traps). The main methods of small mammal census are described; advice for using diagnostic characters and for identification of age and sex of captured animals are given. The key was built using dichotomy system, and it is presented as one main key to families, and 10 special keys to genera and species of each family. In total, the guide includes 7 tables and 45 figures.
