abstract

Essay on the development of zoological specializations at University, Zoological Museum and biostations. Information is provided on historical records, the areas of activity of the departments, and the researchers who conducted studies on mammals. Uzhhorod University is one of the key centres for the study of the mammalian fauna of Transcarpathia and the Carpathians, as well as for the development of scientific expertise in the region. Information is provided on leading researchers of the past and present, as well as on notable alumni of the University who have become theriologists.  The Zoological Museum serves not only as a repository of unique exhibits but also as a centre for the study of mammalian morphological variation. The museum’s current activities, combined with the work of departments and biological research stations, create a platform for the professional training of a new generation of zoological experts.
