abstract

The majority of data on the distribution of the fat dormouse in Ukraine is known from the right-bank part of the country. By now, only 7 reports of the species were reported from 5 regions of Left-Bank Ukraine. Two new records of the fat dormouse were found. Two individuals were caught in September 2016 in Pryhidky village (Pyriatyn district, Poltava region). Another record was discovered in Kaplyntsi vil. of the same district, where the dormouse was found in May 2017 in an old garden in a hollow of an apple tree. These records are the easternmost ones within the main part of this species’ range in Ukraine. Natural habitats of the species in the region are under protection of Pyriatynsky National Nature Park.
