abstract

The current status and distribution of Bubalus bubalis in the region of the Ukrainian Carpathians are analyzed. The decrease in number of this species in Transcarpathia is established. The paper also contains information on some features of the Hutsulian horses, including issues of conservation and restoration of these animals in the region. To extend the experience of maintenance of these species in the Carpathian region was proposed, as well as a program of recreational tourism development and preservation of traditional forms of nature exploitation.
